Most , if not, all of our society have heard about the importance of community service. When we were in school, we were focused on giving our time to go out there and help in the community. In the workplace, companies have encouraged to employees to participate and do volunteer work in the community. Overall, we see a lot of opportunities available for people to participate and become the problem solvers that the World truly need.
Unfortunately, most people in society don’t do community service. We have seen people that do community service , but they only do it because they expect something in return. Whether it was in school or working for an employer , we have seen people sign up to volunteer and then don’t show up in the last minute for different reasons. There is also a level of responsibility with the way non-profit organizations work with volunteers in their programs.
For example, as part of my volunteer experience, I have seen first hand the frustrations that organizations went through when they face last minute no shows from volunteers. However, I have also seen the way they implemented their volunteer strategies and the mistakes that were made in terms of how they handled volunteers.
Despite these situations, this should not discourage people from doing volunteer service. One of the main challenges that organizations face is lack of participation from volunteers. This is not only the responsibility of the volunteer , but , also the organization. Non profit organizations need to work on strategies that will truly encourage volunteer participation. The volunteers should be focused on not necessarily help the organization directly, but , more important about the main cause in which he or she is volunteering for in the first place.
For the rest of society, it is important to stop looking volunteer service as just work with the expectation of a reward. Instead , it is time to look as volunteer service as a commitment that all of us have in making our World a much better place. Focus on giving back to the community from the heart, without the expectation of a reward or favor.

La mayoría, si no, toda nuestra sociedad ha escuchado sobre la importancia del servicio comunitario. Cuando estábamos en la escuela, nos enfocamos en dar nuestro tiempo para salir y ayudar en la comunidad. En el lugar de trabajo, las empresas han motivado a los empleados a participar y hacer trabajo voluntario en la comunidad. En general, vemos muchas oportunidades disponibles para que las personas participen y se conviertan en los agentes de cambio que el mundo realmente necesita.
Desafortunadamente, la mayoría de las personas en la sociedad no hacen servicio comunitario. Hemos visto personas que hacen servicio comunitario, pero solo lo hacen porque esperan algo a cambio. Ya sea en la escuela o en el trabajo, hemos visto a personas inscribirse para ser voluntarias y luego no se presentan en el último minuto por diferentes razones. También hay un nivel de responsabilidad con la forma en que las organizaciones sin fines de lucro trabajan con voluntarios en sus programas.
Por ejemplo, como parte de mi experiencia como voluntario, he visto de primera mano las frustraciones por las cual pasaron las organizaciones cuando se enfrentaron a las ausencias de los voluntarios de última hora. Sin embargo, también he visto la forma en que implementaron sus estrategias de voluntariado y los errores que se cometieron en términos de cómo manejaron a los voluntarios.
A pesar de estas situaciones, esto no debería disuadir a las personas de hacer servicio voluntario. Uno de los principales desafíos que enfrentan las organizaciones es la falta de participación de los voluntarios. Esto no es solo responsabilidad del voluntario, sino también de la organización. Las organizaciones sin fines de lucro necesitan trabajar en estrategias que realmente fomenten la participación voluntaria. Los voluntarios deben centrarse no necesariamente en ayudar directamente a la organización, sino más importante sobre la causa principal por la cual él o ella se ofrece como voluntario en primer lugar.
Para el resto de la sociedad, es importante dejar de ver el servicio voluntario como solo trabajar con la expectativa de una recompensa. En cambio, es hora de considerar el servicio voluntario como un compromiso que todos tenemos para hacer de nuestro mundo un lugar mucho mejor. Concéntrese en devolver a la comunidad desde el corazón, sin la expectativa de una recompensa o favor.
