ONE YEAR ON TELEVISION: FROM GUEST TO INTERVIEWER

A year ago, I was taken to the studios of WAPA Televisión Puerto Rico to be interviewed on television for the first time. The purpose of the interview was to talk about my life with Autism and my book. I had my anxiety levels high as always and very nervous. But, once I entered the studio and sat looking at the camera, not only did I do the interview well with Mónica Candelaria and Jorge Gelpi Pagan, but also, it was the beginning of the most important phase of my life. Later during the day, I went to the Telemundo Puerto Rico studios to be interviewed by Dagmar and Raymond. I couldn’t imagine that, for one day, my interviews were the main focus in the press on my island. I felt like I was living in a dream, but it was reality. But it doesn’t end here.

Later, I had the honor of being contacted by Ángel Sepúlveda to be interviewed on the Despierta Orlando program with Luis Artemio. It was an excellent interview, but, I was very surprised by an invitation that changed my life. Ángel offered me to have my own segment on television, which would be motivational and also about what my life’s mission has been, to be an ambassador for the Autism community. I started having my segment, talking about these topics and every week, my segment evolved. To a point, which I recently started a new role of being an interviewer and bringing guests and interviewing them in my own segment.

See how I have not only evolved in the television area, but also my life during this year of great challenges has been the best experience of my life. And more, the reason that I continue in the battle to this day, which is the Autism community. Being an Autistic person on television is challenging, but it is not impossible. It is the message that I have carried and continue to carry to society to realize that each human being with Autism has a great purpose in life.
To see Tony in his television segment called “Tu Proposito” on Despierta Orlando, you can tune in every Thursday at 6:00 AM EST on Univision Orlando and on Facebook at NoticiasYaOrlando page.
